Summer may be ending, but not before Matt Catingub and the Glendale Pops Orchestra bring the cool, rhythmic sounds of Brazilian music to The Americana at Brand with Bossa Nova on Brand.
Special guest artist Téka and musicians will join the Glendale Pops Orchestra as they celebrate the Bossa Nova and the Samba with favorites from Anotonio Carlos Jobim, Sergio Mendes, and songs like Wave, Girl From Ipanema, Desifinado, One Note Samba, Watch What Happens, and more.
Bossa Nova on Brand is a part of the Glendale Pops Orchestra’s Free Concerts at The Americana at Brand Series.

In response to the widespread famine in East Africa affecting twelve million people, Santa Barbara musicians are banding together to present a marathon concert on September 6, 2011 at Center Stage Theater, upstairs in Paseo Nuevo Mall.
All proceeds will be given to the Santa Barbara based international aid organization, Direct Relief International. (
http://directrelief.org/) DRI, who with their partners on the ground, provide me
dical assistance to the hospitals and refugee camps. 100% of donations made go to DRI’s projects thanks to a generous bequest received in 2007. For every dollar donated, DRI turns that into $30 in medicine and medical supplies.
